My name is Michael Miles, a Chicago resident and amateur historian. I hope you will find The Dialectic a compelling place to visit and engage in discussion.

My political views are not ideological; I’m much more an advocate of accomplishment than purity. If you self-identify with the right-wing, then you will no doubt consider me a socialist, but I don’t know any self-respecting socialists that would include me as one of their own. Instead, I like to travel the spectrum and borrow a bit of this or that, much the same way I like to cook (another passion of mine) with many ingredients. So please bring an open mind and let’s explore a full range of ideas.
